# Scan my interest list and pick out the one that seems the most odd to you.
# I’ll explain it.
# Then you post this in your journal so other people can ask you about your interests.

We used to piggyback something called FurNet off of it, but that long since folded. Fido's still there though, especially in places where the internet is sparse like parts of Europe. In fact I think Zone 2 (Europe) has more member systems than Zone 1 (US and Canada) these days. Anyway, though I closed down my own system earlier this year, I've still got a small web page about it on my website which has links elsewhere. One on-line FIDO bbs is Doc's Place, which I recommend.

Date: 2005-01-24 05:46 pm (UTC)"Furry fandom" is a rather amorphous relative of science fiction fandom involving people with an interest in non human lifeforms. In origin it's related to sf fandom in general and to anime fandom in particular; many early members of C/FO were furry fans, as was probably obvious from the mascot Mark Merlino drew for the club. You find fans of animation, of fictional animals, of real animals the Reptile and Amphibian Rescue Network has done presentations at the ConFurence and CaliFur conventions, and I know several wild-life rehabilitators who are involved. It's a fairly artist-heavy fandom, with a strong anthropomorphic content. But all that's really required is an interest in and liking for animals.
