Anybody know this ring?

Last Consonance, I bought a ring (picture behind the lj cut) which formerly belonged to Cindy. It's obviously handmade and probably one of a kind, composed of brass, copper and steel from the look of it, plus an opal triplet. I'd love to know the story behind this if any. (I also seem to have mislaid Dr. James' email address so I'd like to hear from him, too!)

Thanks! I've already heard from him, thus getting his eddress as well, though apparently Cindy already had the ring when they met. From what he says, it was a favorite of hers. So not only can I enjoy it for itself, but as a reminder of Cindy.
