Excuse me, I intend to kvetch a bit. Not at any of you per se, though I'm not friendslocking this, so it may yet be seen by those who need to.

For heaven's sake, can we please have a moratorium on pseudoscience by religionists and pseudotheology from scientists? With all due respect, neither of you know what you are talking about. To the one, we have all the evidence piled up that we need to show that the earth is billions of years old, that life changes with time, and that humans are related to all the other life forms on the planet. To the others, no, Christianity, Buddhism, Judism, Islam, etc. etc. etc. are NOT all the same, even if most of 'em do agree that trashing your neighbor is a Bad Idea. To both of you - do your homework, and learn what the other IS, and equally important what it is NOT before sounding off. Sheesh...

I equate all religions as being the same in that they universally get some things right and some things wrong. I'm one of the science groups, but I'm of the opinion that God is as far advanced from us as we are from ants (probably further - we cannot create an ant from scratch). Thus any understanding we can find will be limited and isn't good enough reason to commit all the attrocities people do. To say that we can completely comprehend God is to put humanity on the same level as God.

None of which is the same as insisting that all of the religions are the same, which is what I was complaining about.

It would be nice if they would listen. Not holding my breath, but it would really be nice. It would be especially nice (and a good start) if both sides would admit that they have often done wrong in the past (often exactly what they have accused the other of).
