Went down to my folks' place in Orange, CA for Thanksgiving, and Mom fixed duck. Yummmmmmmm.... Or if you are what you eat, Quack!

Someone goofed on the size of a warmup suit Mom ordered in the mail (I think they sewed the wrong tag in) but it turned out to fit me, so I wound up with it (and am wearing it while I type this. Nice and warmmmm.) My birthday's coming up on the 28th, so I also got my birthday present. A nice fat check just in time for LOSCON. In a card with a picture of Berea College on the front.

This was the first time we'd been down to visit since they'd gotten back from vacation last summer, so we got to see pictures of relatives back east, and from the paddle wheel cruise they took whilst there, down to Mobile. Fortunately they were back up in Kentucky by the time Ivan hit Florida and environs. One thing to be thankful for.

Another is that when Vicky took the family guitar into McCabes because it kept coming out of tune, it turned out that nothing was wrong with it except that it needed restringing by someone who knew what they were doing, so THAT's ok. Goodness knows if she wants to learn guitar she knows plenty of good teachers.

Two friends who were in the hospital for operations came back out ok. The local one is off to her relatives for Thanksgiving and will probably stay there for a few weeks.

Vicky and I went with Fred Patten to a screening of the Spongebob Squarepants movie at the Movie Writers' Guild Theater. Lovely screening room, though the "no food allowed" was a bit daunting. I mean, no popcorn? Oh well. The movie itself... well, if you really MUST have a movie about Spongebob Squarepants this one wasn't too bad. OTOH, I'm kinda glad I didn't actually have to pay to see it.

McCabe's is a great place. Some years ago, I hadn't noticed that my guitar's neck had gotten slightly warped - enough to make the strings be so high above the frets as to make it VERY difficult to play. They fixed it nicely.

I used to go to the concerts there about 1-3 times/year. I also bought various percussion "toys" there. *sigh*...
Snow is still on the ground from two days ago - missing southern Cal. I'll be coming back for a visit from 12/18-23, the last couple of days of that in L.A.
