Here's a site I never dreamed would exist - apparently it is actually possible for the extremely careful (and supplied with a Geiger counter) to go through the area around Chernobyl on a motorcycle (and generally keeping to the asphalt, which apparently doesn't absorb radiation that much.) The pictures on this site are fascinating...
