A certain famous group of trolls* noted for picketing funerals and being weirded out by Pastafarians announced their plans to go pester the students on their way to school at Santa Monica Highschool.  Following much forwarding of emails quite a few of us, mostly from local religious groups and of course some of the students decided to go demonstrate why this was Not On.  Quite a few of us as it turned out.  It's been awhile since I was in a protest march; they're still fun (even if I did have to get up at 5am).  We made up a double line around the sidewalk which in retrospect may have been an error since people would stop to chat on their way through to the school and so the path kept clogging up, but nobody seems to have been upset.  The six or so ungodly were not only wildly outnumbered, but across the street and thus marginalized most effectively (also the cops made it clear they were not to cross Pico in our direction).  Mostly we ignored them (I had taken the precaution of leaving my hearing aids out, so have no idea of whatever they might have said or chanted.) We sang Beatles songs, hymns, America the Beautiful, a carol or so, Rock of Ages (the Channukah one), chanted "2, 4, 6, 8, We teach our children not to hate" until school was about to start and the pests went away.

*Name withheld because a) it's easy to find on the net from the above clues and b) why should I make it that easy for them to google their "reviews"?

I took several photos with my iTouch, all of which came out kinda bland but here's one anyway.  Check around the net for better shots - there were a LOT of photographers with real cameras.

My personal approach with these guys will be to get skunk urine (very foul smelling -- bought at any hunting store) and "spilling" it on the sidewalk in front of them as I pass. I'm not attacking them and there's no law against spilling anything, and I can walk away from the stench -- they cannot.

Actually they can, which marginalizes them even further, and they failed in their mission - whatever that is.

Speaking of skunk urine, I tend to think of them in an excavating, if improperly spelled sense, as something "best berried."
