Originally I planned to go over to the airport, then instead up to the Getty to get a look at the shuttle in passing. But I had other stuff to do too, and it occurred to me that our place is just a bit south of the eastbound leg of the flight path from the ocean to the turn, to the final approach to LAX. So instead I celebrated Hobbit Second Breakfast out front with tea, toast with butter and jam, and half an avocado (hey, I'm a Southern Californian hobbit. :) ) Not having a telephoto lens, I'd decided to forgo my camera. This may have been a mistake, I looked up at a sudden vrooommm and lo and behold there went the shuttle on the 747 with two chase planes right past the house, so fast that by the time I realized she was going low enough that I could photograph her with my iTouch, she wasn't that close any more. Woooo! Called
niall_shapero out to see and we waved as she headed for the final loop into LAX. This is about what it looked like - someone over in Marina del Rey seems to have gotten a photo at about the same distance. Don't know who - the site belongs to a legal firm. So if you do know who's at MBG Law, tell them it's a cool photo!
Congratulations
