As per every ten years after the census info comes down, California is redistricting again. The Citizens Redistricting Commission is currently considering the possibilities, and has put up a site at http://wedrawthelines.ca.gov/ for the rest of us to take a look and in the case of California citizens make comments on the subject. I just heard about this, and they expect to release the final set by July 28 and vote on them by Aug 15, so if you're curious, look quick!

I notice that LA to San Diego & East to the AZ border is all one district. Is this because they haven't chopped it up yet?

It was that way due to population, or more to the point, lack of it compared to the other districts.

I doubt that's changed in the past 30 years.

The one that amuses me is the one from the board of equalization (second from the top) that divides the place into vertical strips consisting of the coast, the San Joachin Valley, and the rest of the state, with the exception of a little box around Los Angeles.

Note also that some of these are details of parts of the state, like the la ones for Los Angeles, and things like the senate socal one about halfway down the list that shows several districts in area you point out.

Yeppers - this state does provide plenty of entertainment for the inhabitants. :)
