Looks like something crashed into Jupiter again this morning. Wonder how many of these we've missed due to nobody looking at the right moment (and no big buildup like the breakapart of Shoemaker-Levy to attract attention). Apparently they identified the Blob off Alaska last week - it's an algal bloom. Filamentous algae, I gather, from the "hair" and like most sticky globs of stuff has collected its share of dead fish, jellyfish, feathers and whatnot. Sounds a bit like someone just cleaned out a very BIG drain trap... :)
