Experience suggests there are two ways to manage dinner and a movie other than combining them with something like dinner theater. One is to make careful plans as to where you are going and what you will see, then find a nearby restaurant and make reservations so you don't have to wait to get in. Then you eat dinner, being careful to keep an eye on the time, then go to the theater and hopefully arrive on time.

I thnk I prefer the other option - we went out to eat the other afternoon, it being a mite hot for cooking at home, then after dinner Nicolai suggested we go see a movie (with air conditioning) so we walked across the lot to the theater, noticed Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest was on in half an hour, bought tickets, and went in. No hurry, no stress, no worries!

Without committing spoilers, I'll just say that the movie itself was about what I expected; the usual round of plot complications it sometimes didn't pay to look too closely at (since when does Davy Jones sail the Flying Dutchman?), some entertaining CGI (now THAT'S a Kraken!), and a lot of merry chaos. Being particularly fond of farce I enjoyed this movie a lot, even given that the ending does not so much suggest a sequel as demand it. New and innovative uses of a wedding gown and a waterwheel (neither is bawdy. Sorry!)! Much silliness!
