I just joined the Weather Underground, which I hasten to inform those of you who are close to my age is these days merely the name of a really GOOD website devoted to weather information from all over the place in impressive detail using everything from satellite to radar. You don't actually have to join the site to use it - you just get no ads and various useful features if you do and it's only $5 for a year anyway. I discovered the thing when [livejournal.com profile] filkertom mentioned it recently as a handy place to track hurricanes and things, and have since added it to my bookmarks.

And it being about 1 am I'd better stop playing with it and get to bed...

So does this make you a weather hippie? LOL. I didn't know they had a subscription site, that sounds rather cool.

Got more SW fic posted this week. Been actually productive.

My father has recommended that site. I was looking at it some pre-Rita. I just went there now - very interesting, reading the Wunder Blog about Wilma. Wheee, what a year we are having.

I find Weather Underground very useful and informative.

Note: If I recall correctly, it started out as a nonprofit website hosted by a college.

So did the International Movie Data Base (imdb.com), and the food website Epicurious.
