kayshapero: (Ftagn!)
Didn't think to get my camera out and it's after dark now so no pictures, however as I drove back from the grocery, I looked up and the clouds to the east looked almost like a volcanic eruption, with the top deck being the right color for water clouds, but kinda "hard" and cobbly around the edges like ash, and darker smoke rising from beneath. It looked so close I went inside and turned on the TV to see if some idiot had set fire to Griffith Park again. As usual, if you want local news the news stations were all reporting on things on the other side of the planet, but the internet made it clear that no, it was just that the fire north of La CaƱada Flintridge appears to be running wild and emitting a LOT of smoke. Which goodness knows is Bad Enough.

Ouch. Just checked Google News on the fire and we appear to have lost two firefighters in a ground vehicle crash. Not all the hazards come from the flames.

If there's anything as dramatic as that cloud was to photograph from here tomorrow (and frankly I hope there isn't) I'll try and include a picture.

Edit: Just found a google fire map - dunno how often or if it's updated.
