Today's paper has some interesting stuff in it. These links'll only be good for a week - the LA Times has the annoying habit of charging for a look at older stories.
Turtles! A lot of Western Pond Turtles got washed out of their holes during last winter's hibernation, and dumped onto the beach in Ventura county. Rescuers have been collecting and taking care of them ever since, and now they're beginning to put them back where they belong after taking pictures of their under shells, which apparently are something like Western Pond Turtle fingerprints. I wish them luck - what a way to start the year...
Sea Lion! Meanwhile, a 195 lb female sea lion swam 5 miles inland to the Irvine Civic Center for some reason. She's being cared for at the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, seems to be doing fine, and will be taken out past Dana Point and released Wednesday. Good thing too - she doesn't seem to think much of the facilities (even when they tried adding a young male sea lion to the mix).
Back with the human species, someone decided to wander around Malibu asking people what they thought of the tabloid reporter being shot by a pellet gun. Getting all the reactions you'd expect, too.
