I'm an old lady. If I'm using the phone, I talk.

If I want to use text, I do email.

Talk almost all of the time. Text is useful in a few cases
- if my husband is travelling and a brief text message is cheaper than a phone call.
- if I can't reach my husband or son on their cell phones, I'll often leave a text message rather than voice mail.
- or when I know that a phone call will interrupt them, but they can check a text message when convenient, and the message is brief enough to text.

Come to think of it, I have been known to send pictures to my daughter and vice versa, and include text on that. Generally though, if I send a text message I'm replying to one someone sent me.

I did consider twitter briefly, but frankly a) I don't think anybody NEEDS to know that I just crossed the street or ate a hot dog and b) I do NOT want to pay for near constant text messages. I do have an account, but I use it on the computer to see what Mars probes and things are up to.
