I Can Haz Laptop!!

It's back! Actually it arrived day before yesterday when I was out, so Fed Ex brought it back yesterday. Anyway I've had time to check it out now (also to realize I should probably post about it) and it's working fine. Including my hard drive; I'd removed it before shipping, then followed [livejournal.com profile] jeran's suggestion and picked up a USB connector. It worked more or less - most of the drive was accessible but it didn't want to let me look at my website files for some reason. They're ok though - I'm getting at them fine now, and did some updates yesterday and today.

They did, indeed have to replace the motherboard, also the keyboard and a few other odds and ends including a couple of panels which weren't involved in the disaster but had gotten a bit worn and they were after all taking the thing apart and putting it back together ANYWAY... I think I like Dell's attitude here, I do.

When the wife spilled wine into her B150, they fixed it without question in about a week. Dell will be my laptop provider from now on.

My Toshiba Satellite died a few weeks ago, and so rather than pay to have it revived again (and to buy a new battery, because that had died a while back), I bought a refurbished Dell Inspiron from their Outlet. You may well see it tonight.

Hurrah for the laptop!

What did you drop it into?

Good to hear it's all better, now.

A filker should know better than to drink high-Browninan motion capable beverages at their computer. Who knows what improbable results you could have?

Kirk and Picard singing "Tiny Bubbles" as a duet?

Worf and Duncan McLeod fighting a duel, one screaming, "There can be only one!", the other "Today is a good day to die!" ?

James Dixon being taken seriously? No, that could never happen...

Just FYI, this is Todd Sullivan, from the FIDO days. Just letting you know "I'm not dead!"

And enough bad quotes... :D

Oh, aargh.

It's been a few years since Fido, and I've evolved. Whether I've finished or not remains to be seen...

:D

Wouldn't bet on it...
