Day 6

And it's the last day of the con. As you can see behind the lj cuts, I finally got a picture of Terry Pratchett from in front instead of his back as he gave someone an award. I'm still getting used to this camera and my non-flash low light level shots come out blurry.

This was at Closing Ceremonies, along with recognition of guests and the usual lot of rannygazoo including auctioning off the various banners and things along with other stuff - earlier in the week before the con started, Diane Duane went out for a haircut, and Sir Terry talked her into saving the cut hair to auction off at the con. She did... and sho 'nuff, it brought in about 60 bucks. Then the MC (whose name I finally learned is Pat, though I still don't know his surname) auctioned off the right to shave his beard off. It's been a looong four days. :)

There was also a trailer for the upcoming Going Postal movie which looks promising. Playing music from Beetlejuice in the background didn't hurt the ambiance any. (snerk).

Ah well - went out to dinner with Vicky, Hillel, Lauren and Mike (Lauren's bf), and are now about to leave for the Tail of the Turtle party. This has been a great con - I hope we get to do it again sometime. I may post more later tonight, I may not. The kitty is tired...

Day 6 - Tail of the Turtle

Well, the Turtle has swum off into the endless night, and the Con Suite has closed down (after donating a box of tea to ConChord, which I'll be bringing along next weekend.) Couple of things - the MC whose name I didn't catch is Pat Harkin - among other things he's referred to in the latest convention newsletter (all of which are available on the website.) He is, indeed, the fellow who gave fabula_umbrae the prop teeth. The site is now collecting links to photos and accounts of convention doings (I'll send them a link to this string of LJ entries) - see the last newsletter for details.

And just for the fun of it, a photo of my badge. The top ribbon is from the Seamstresses Guild Party, the second Loscon (obviously), and IIRC Pat's the one who gave me the British Tourist ribbon, for some weird reason or other - Vicky says it's to tell British Tourists not to shoot at me. :)
